The Australian government plans to launch its largest-ever renewable energy tender in May, aiming for 6 GW of new solar and wind projects to replace aging coal power generation. This is part of the federal government's Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS) which intends to deliver an additional 32 GW of capacity by 2030, including 23 GW of renewable energy generation and 9 GW of dispatchable storage. New South Wales will be the biggest beneficiary with at least 2.2 GW of new renewables for the state. The tender includes revenue certainty for investors to encourage new investment.
