Rivian, an electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, reaffirmed its commitment to building a plant in Georgia despite plans to produce its smaller and more affordable R2 model in Illinois first. The move will save $2.25 billion and help speed up the R2's launch. However, the state of Georgia is pressing for answers regarding the site conditions and safety concerns. Rivian responded by reaffirming its commitment and compliance with regulations, while continuing to maintain the site during the pause. The EV maker also announced over 6,000 reservations for the R2 within hours of launch.
