The Dutch government has announced a 100 million subsidy program for battery storage projects alongside solar installations to address grid congestion issues. The funding, part of a larger 416 million program, is expected to facilitate the deployment of up to 330 MW of battery capacity. TenneT also proposed new contract terms with lower transport rates for batteries to make their integration into the Dutch electricity grid easier and more cost-effective. As of June 2022, the Netherlands had a total installed PV capacity of 16.5 GW, with a significant portion of rooftops being solar paneled.
