PV Magazine International 1:09 am on June 3, 2024

On May 3, 2024, JinkoSolar announced achieving a record-breaking perovskite-silicon tandem solar cell efficiency of 33.24%, as certified by Shanghai Institute for Microsystem and Information Technology under the Academy of Sciences (CAS). This surpasses Longi's previous world record of 33.9% efficiency and KAUST's device with 33.7%. Researchers anticipate a potential practical power conversion efficiency up to 39.5%, necessitating architectural changes in cell design, such as replacing C60 with more transparent alternatives and ITO layers.

  • JinkoSolar breaks records with perovskite-silicon tandem solar cells achieving 33.24% efficiency.
  • Certification by Shanghai Institute for Microsystem and Information Technology (CAS).
  • Longi previously held world record at 33.9%.
  • KAUST's tandem device reported an efficiency of 33.7%.
  • Researchers suggest architectural modifications for practical power conversion potential reaching up to 39.5%.
